Sidenote terms of use
Sidenote is free. These terms cover the Sidenote Chrome extension, its sync service at sidenote-sync.netlify.app and its AI connector (the Sidenote MCP server, local or hosted). By using them you agree to these terms and to the privacy policy.
Your notes are yours
You own what you write. Sidenote claims no rights to your notes and only stores or processes them to provide the features you turn on, as the privacy policy describes.
Keys
Sidenote uses keys instead of accounts. Anyone with your sync key or a share key can read, and with an edit key change, what it covers, so keep keys private. A lost key cannot be recovered, and nobody can reset it for you.
AI assistants
If you connect an AI assistant, it acts on your instructions with the access you gave it (read only, or read and edit). Check what it changes; an assistant can make mistakes. What it reads is sent to that AI provider under their terms. You can disconnect at any time at sidenote-sync.netlify.app/oauth/disconnect.
Fair use
- Don't use the sync service or connector to store or spread illegal content, malware, or other people's data without permission.
- Don't try to break, overload or get around the services' limits. Both have daily request limits that keep them free; when a limit is reached they pause until the next day and your notes stay safe on your devices.
No warranty
Sidenote is provided as is, without warranties of any kind. The services may change, pause or stop. Keep your own copies of important notes (Settings → Export saves all of them as a file). To the extent the law allows, the developer is not liable for lost data or other damages from using Sidenote.
Changes
If these terms change, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
